Description
EXMAR VSS-R Art. no 1045798 Locking screws — BOLTON SKU 68035.
About the 1045798 EXMAR VSS-R Locking Screws
The 1045798 EXMAR locking screws are sealing plugs supplied under EXMAR article number 1045798 and type code VSS-..R. The plug has an external hexagon drive on a shouldered, collared head and is made to DIN 910, the standard covering hexagon-head screw plugs with a collar and a cylindrical — that is, parallel — thread. Because the thread is parallel rather than tapered, the seal is not made by thread interference: the plug is screwed into the threaded port until the collar seats against the port face, and a sealing ring in form A is supplied to seal that joint. DIN 910 plugs are intended for closing threaded holes in pipes, fittings and housings carrying air, gas or fluid under pressure, and the external hexagon allows the plug to be tightened to a defined torque with an ordinary spanner or socket.

Typical applications
Plugs of this type close unused or service ports on hydraulic and pneumatic blocks, adaptor bodies, manifolds and cylinder housings, where the collar and form A ring give a face seal that can be broken and remade during maintenance. They are also used to blank off test and gauge ports on assemblies that are pressure-tested before despatch. Because the head takes an external hexagon, they can be removed and refitted with ordinary hand tools in the field.
