About the O-Ring 36.17 x 2.62 mm NBR
The ORS1877 nitrile O-ring is a moulded elastomeric sealing ring with a 36.17 mm inside diameter and a 2.62 mm cross-section, supplied in black. The compound is NBR — acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber, commonly called nitrile — at a hardness of 70 Shore A, which is the general-purpose hardness used for static and lightly dynamic O-ring duty. The 2.62 mm cross-section is one of the standard O-ring section sizes, so a ring of this size interchanges dimensionally with other manufacturers’ rings of the same inside diameter and section, provided the compound and hardness also match. Item reference 1877 identifies the size within the supplier’s own numbering; the ORS1877 code carries that reference through. When specifying a replacement, quote inside diameter, cross-section, compound and hardness together, since the nominal size alone does not define how the ring will behave in service.

Typical applications
Rings of this inside diameter and section are used in static face and radial seals on hydraulic and pneumatic fittings, covers, port plugs and small housings. Nitrile at 70 Shore A is the default choice for petroleum-based hydraulic fluids, mineral oils and greases. It is not the correct compound where phosphate-ester fluids, sustained ozone exposure or high continuous temperatures are involved, and a different elastomer should be specified for those duties. Check the groove dimensions against the 36.17 x 2.62 mm size before substituting for an existing ring.
