Supplied as tubing heat shrink 3 1 ratio sleeving, this is a dual-wall heat-shrinkable product: a cross-linked polyolefin outer wall with an adhesive inner lining, supplied in the 1/8 in nominal size with a 3:1 shrink ratio and a clear finish. When heat is applied the outer wall recovers towards roughly one third of its supplied diameter while the inner lining melts and flows into the gaps around the substrate, so on cooling the sleeve is both mechanically gripped and adhesively sealed rather than simply clamped. The 3:1 ratio means one size covers a wider span of underlying diameters than a 2:1 product, which is useful over stepped transitions such as a conductor emerging from a larger jacket or a solder joint that is thicker than the wire behind it. The clear wall leaves the joint, marking or conductor colour visible after recovery, which supports inspection without cutting the sleeve back.

Typical applications
Adhesive-lined sleeving in a small 1/8 in size is used on fine-gauge terminations: sealing solder sleeves and inline splices on signal wiring, moisture-sealing the back of crimped contacts, providing strain relief where a conductor leaves a connector, and covering breakouts on sensor and instrumentation leads. The clear wall allows the underlying splice or wire marker to be verified after shrinking, so it is often preferred over coloured sleeving on harnesses that are subject to visual inspection.
