About the M23053/16-004-0 Heat Shrink Tubing
DR-25 is TE Connectivity Raychem’s flexible, single-wall heat-shrinkable tubing manufactured to the MIL-DTL-23053/16 slash sheet, from which the M23053/16 part numbering is taken. The material is an irradiated cross-linked elastomer with a 2:1 shrink ratio, so the recovered tubing draws down to approximately half its supplied diameter when heated. The specification family is characterised as general-purpose, flexible, flame-retardant and resistant to chemicals and abrasion, with published fuel and hydraulic fluid resistance and an operating range of about -75 degrees C to +150 degrees C. Those properties are why DR-25 is used as a jacketing material over harness bundles rather than only as a single-point insulator. This item is the 3/4 inch size, one of the sizes stocked in the DR-25 range, which spans roughly 1/8 inch to 1 inch in expanded diameter.

Typical applications
Elastomeric heat-shrink of this class is used to jacket and protect wiring harnesses on military ground vehicles, aircraft and UAV airframes, to provide abrasion protection where bundles pass through structure, and to seal and cover breakouts and backshell transitions. It is a standard consumable in harness build and MRO workshops.
