Description

Fluke 62 MAX Infrared Thermometer — BOLTON SKU 50456.

About the Fluke 62 MAX Infrared Thermometer

Fluke 62 MAX test equipment covers the handheld infrared thermometer that measures surface temperature from -30 °C to 500 °C (-22 °F to 932 °F) without contact, to an accuracy of ±1.5 °C or ±1.5% of reading, whichever is greater. Its optical resolution is 10:1 calculated at 90% energy, meaning the measured spot is a tenth of the distance to the target — at two metres the instrument is averaging a 200 mm circle, which is the figure that decides whether a small component can be read individually. Emissivity is adjustable from 0.10 to 1.00, so the reading can be corrected for shiny, painted or oxidised surfaces rather than assuming a fixed value. Response time is under 500 ms to 95% of reading, and a single laser marks the centre of the measurement area. The instrument is sealed to IP54 per IEC 60529 and rated for a three-metre drop.

Typical applications

The -30 °C to 500 °C span puts refrigeration and HVAC surfaces at one end and motor, bearing, exhaust and process-pipe temperatures at the other, which is the working range for maintenance rounds and fault-finding rather than furnace or metallurgy work. The IP54 sealing and three-metre drop rating are what make it a walk-around instrument for plant, workshop and flight-line use rather than a bench device. Adjustable emissivity matters in these environments because bare metal, insulation and painted surfaces on the same machine would otherwise read very differently.
