About the MX-H1-AV Soldering Equipment
The METCAL MX-H1-AV is Metcal’s Advanced hand-piece for the MX-5000 and MX-5200 series systems. Its data sheet describes it as a general-purpose tool for single-task soldering, touch-up soldering, surface-mount device (SMD) rework and pad clean-up, with an ergonomic, cool-to-the-touch feel. It accepts Metcal STTC and SMTC tip cartridges — in the Metcal architecture the cartridge, not the hand-piece, fixes the working temperature, because the heater is built into the cartridge itself. Metcal STTC cartridge listings name the MX-H1-AV (alongside the MX-RM3E) as the hand-piece used with MX-500, MX-5000 and MX-5200 systems. The hand-piece is supplied with a 178 cm (70 in) cable and a cartridge removal pad, and is compatible with the MX-W1AV TipSaver work stand. No tip or cartridge is included, so the required geometry and temperature series are ordered separately.
