About the TE Connectivity DEUTSCH DRC Series Conne Connector
This TE Connectivity DEUTSCH connector is a DRC series receptacle housing based on the DRC12-40PB, configured for 40 size 16 pin contacts arranged in four rows, with the B key arrangement, a black body and a red seal. DRC series connectors are high-density rectangular connectors designed for environments where moisture, dirt and rough terrain would contaminate or damage an unprotected connection. The housing is moulded in a high-performance thermoplastic and includes an integral flange so it can be mounted through a bulkhead as an environmentally sealed pass-through. The series is rated as shock and vibration resistant and meets the standard specifications applied across the heavy-duty DEUTSCH product line. Contacts are supplied separately and crimped to the conductor before insertion. The housing mates with the corresponding DRC16-40SB and DRC18-40SB socket plugs.

Typical applications
A 40-way size 16 sealed receptacle is used as a bulkhead interface on machinery and vehicle systems where a large number of signal and low-current power circuits cross a panel in one connector — control modules, engine and powertrain harness breakouts, hydraulic and body control interfaces, and equipment enclosures on off-road and ground support platforms. The B key arrangement is used to prevent cross-mating where several identical 40-way connectors sit close together on the same panel.
