About the 3M VHB 9473 Clear Double-Sided Tape
Double-sided bonding tapes carry pressure-sensitive adhesive on both faces so that two parts are joined over the whole taped area rather than at discrete fixings. This 3M VHB 9473 industrial adhesive is supplied clear, 19 mm wide, on a 55 m roll. Clear construction is chosen where the joint may be visible through a translucent part or at an exposed edge and a coloured bond line would be objectionable. The 19 mm width is a standard bond-line width for panel and trim work, and the 55 m roll length is longer than the 33 m rolls common in the foam ranges, which reduces roll changes on repetitive work. The 9473 reference should be quoted in full on any repeat order: within 3M’s tape catalogue, similar numbers with different prefixes and suffixes denote different products, and width and colour alone do not identify the item.

Typical applications
A clear 19 mm double-sided tape is used to bond nameplates, fascias, trim strips, gaskets and light brackets where the joint must be discreet and the fixing hidden. It also suits laminating flat components together over a defined strip rather than a full face. The 55 m roll length is convenient where a continuous run is applied along a panel edge without an interruption in the bond line.
