About the RS PRO Insulated Crimp Bootlace Ferrule
Stock number 250-3488 is an RS PRO insulated crimp bootlace ferrule sized for a 16 mm2 conductor, with a 12 mm pin length, in an ivory insulating collar and supplied in packs of 50. A bootlace ferrule is crimped onto the stripped end of a stranded conductor so that the strands are consolidated into a single solid pin. This RS PRO Insulated technical component matters at 16 mm2 in particular, because a conductor of that size carries a large number of fine strands that will splay, escape the clamp or bridge to the adjacent terminal if they are left bare. The insulated collar covers the strip line, guards against strand fray at the entry to the terminal and provides a positive stop when the ferrule is pushed home.
