About the M23053/16-004-0 Heat Shrink Tubing
M23053/16-004-0 identifies heat-shrinkable tubing qualified to the MIL-DTL-23053/16 specification sheet, supplied by TE Connectivity (Raychem) as Thermofit DR-25. DR-25 is a radiation-crosslinked, elastomeric heat-shrink tubing developed for harsh-environment wiring: it remains flexible across its operating range, resists aviation and diesel fuels, lubricants and hydraulic fluids, and provides strong abrasion protection for harness jacketing. The tubing has a 2:1 shrink ratio, recovering to half its supplied diameter when heated to its full-recovery temperature of approximately 175 °C, and carries a continuous operating temperature range of −75 °C to +150 °C. This dash size corresponds to the 3/4 inch supplied diameter, and the final digit denotes black, the standard colour for DR-25. It is widely specified for military, aerospace and motorsport harness construction where sealed, fluid-resistant, flexible coverings are mandatory.
