Description
RG-316 Coaxial Cable, 50 Ohm — BOLTON SKU 55621.
About the RG-316 Coaxial Cable 50 Ohm
RG-316/U is a small-diameter flexible coaxial cable with a characteristic impedance of 50 ohms. The inner conductor is a seven-strand construction of 0.17 mm wires, giving an effective conductor diameter of about 0.51 mm, and the dielectric is PTFE, which gives the cable a velocity factor of 0.69. A single braided shield surrounds the dielectric, and the finished cable measures approximately 2.6 mm, or 0.098 inches, overall. Published attenuation is about 22.45 dB per 100 feet at 750 MHz. The stranded centre conductor and small overall diameter are what make the type flexible enough to route around tight bends, and it is widely used for RG-316 Coaxial 50 cable assembly work inside equipment and between closely spaced connectors. Supplied here as cable; connector types, termination method, assembly length and any test data or certification should be specified with the enquiry.

Typical applications
Cable of this diameter is chosen for internal RF interconnects where a larger 50 ohm cable will not make the bend radius available: jumpers between boards and bulkhead connectors, antenna and receiver tails, and instrumentation links on test benches. The PTFE dielectric and thin profile also suit runs that pass close to other harnesses inside a crowded enclosure. Attenuation rises steeply with frequency on a cable this small, so run lengths are normally kept short.
