The Moxa NPort 5410 technical component is a four-port serial device server: it presents four RS-232 ports on DB9 male connectors and makes them reachable over an Ethernet network, so serial instruments and controllers can be addressed from software running elsewhere on that network without a local serial port. Each port operates independently and supports baud rates from 50 up to 921.6 kbps, with RTS/CTS and DTR/DSR hardware flow control. The network side is a single 10/100BaseT(X) port on RJ45 with 1.5 kV magnetic isolation. Operating modes include TCP Server, TCP Client and UDP, and the unit can be managed over SNMP.
