Description
FP-301-3/4-CLEAR Heat Shrink FP-301 3/4 Inch, Clear — BOLTON SKU 59288.
About the FP-301 Heat-Shrink 3/4 Heat Shrink Tubing
3M FP-301 is a flexible thin-wall polyolefin heat-shrink tubing with a 2:1 shrink ratio, supplied here in the 3/4 in size in clear. 3M gives a minimum shrink temperature of 100 °C (212 °F) for all FP-301, continuous operation from −55 °C to +135 °C, and short-period exposure to 300 °C. The tubing is described as split resistant, mechanically tough, easily marked and resistant to cold flow, and it passes the copper mirror corrosion test. In the 3/4 in size the expanded inside diameter is 0.750 in minimum, recovering to 0.375 in maximum with a nominal recovered wall of 0.030 in. One point matters when specifying the clear grade: 3M states plainly that the clear tubing is not flame retardant or UL listed, and the flammability entry reads “self-extinguish, meets UL 224 all-tubing flame test (except clear)”. Clear meets AS23053/5 Class 2 and is chosen where the splice, marking or conductor beneath must stay visible after recovery.

Typical applications
Thin-wall polyolefin tubing of this type is used as shrink-fit insulation over cable splices and terminations, as lightweight harness covering, and for wire marking, bundling and component packaging. The clear grade is chosen specifically where a printed marker, a solder joint or a conductor colour has to remain readable through the recovered wall — useful during inspection and troubleshooting. Because 3M excludes clear from the flame-retardant and UL claims that cover the opaque colours, select an opaque colour instead where a flame-retardant or UL-recognised sleeve is required by the installation standard.
