About the USB-RS485-WE-1800-BT USB-RS485 Cable, 1.8
The USB-RS485-WE-1800-BT USB to RS485 Cable 6-Core is FTDI’s 1.8 m USB-to-RS485 serial converter. A small circuit board built around the FTDI FT232R USB-UART IC, together with an RS485 transceiver, is encapsulated inside the USB Type-A connector, so the whole converter is contained in the cable itself. Transmit and receive LEDs on the connector give a visual indication of bus traffic. The far end is wire-ended (WE): six 24 AWG conductors are supplied unterminated and tinned so the installer can fit whatever connector or terminal arrangement the target RS485 network uses. The cable is powered entirely from the USB port, supports data rates from 300 baud up to 3 Mbaud, and FTDI recommends it for use at the end of an RS485 network of up to roughly 10 m. The product carries CE, FCC and UKCA approvals and uses FTDI’s royalty-free VCP drivers.
