About the 170-81004 HellermannTyton Sleeve, 7-13 mm
This 170-81004 expandable sleeving is HellermannTyton Helagaine HEGPETFR, a flame-retardant braided sleeve woven from polyester (PET) monofilament. It suits bundle diameters from 7 to 13 mm and is supplied black with a grey identification yarn woven through the braid so the type can still be recognised after installation. The operating temperature range is -50 °C to +150 °C, and the material carries FMVSS 302 and UL 1441 VW-1 flammability ratings. Braided construction is what gives the sleeve its expandability: the diameter opens as the braid angle changes, so the sleeve can be pushed over connectors and backshells larger than the harness itself and then relaxes back onto the bundle. The braid also provides abrasion protection along the run while staying flexible enough to follow bends. Standard supply is in 100 m lengths.

Typical applications
Sleeving in the 7-13 mm range covers small to medium harnesses — sensor looms, panel-to-panel wiring and control cable runs. The temperature range and flammability ratings make it applicable to rail and public-transport interiors, aircraft equipment bays and telecommunications cabinets. It is normally cut to length during harness build and terminated with heatshrink or tape at each end to stop the braid fraying.
