What distinguishes it within the button head family is the material: A4 stainless steel, the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade in the ISO 3506 stainless fastener classification. The addition of molybdenum gives A4 materially better resistance to chloride attack and pitting than the more common A2 grade, which is why A4 is the grade called out for marine, coastal and salt-laden environments and for equipment subject to regular chemical washdown. In an M2.5 size the fastener is small: the hexagon socket is correspondingly small, tightening torque is low, and the joint should be treated as a light-duty retaining fixing.
