About the E3D ObXidian Nozzle 0.6mm
This is an E3D ObXidian nozzle with a 0.6 mm orifice, catalogued as nozzle e3d obxidian 0 6mm. The nozzle is the final element of a fused-filament (FFF/FDM) hot end: molten filament is forced through the orifice, and the orifice diameter sets the maximum width of the extruded road. A 0.6 mm orifice is larger than the common 0.4 mm default, so it is chosen when throughput and layer strength matter more than the finest achievable detail — a wider road deposits more material per unit of travel and supports thicker layers, which shortens print time on large parts. Typical applications
A 0.6 mm nozzle is used for larger parts, draft iterations and structural prints, and for jigs and fixtures where print time rather than surface detail is the limiting factor. The wider orifice also gives more clearance for filled filaments than a 0.4 mm nozzle, which reduces the chance of a partial obstruction. Workshops normally keep several orifice sizes and change the nozzle to suit the part instead of compromising on one setting.
