Description

M23053/5-105-4 Tubing, Heat-Shrinkable, Thin wall, Fluid Resistant, 3/16″ 125 °C, Yellow — BOLTON SKU 53814.

About the M23053/5-105-4 Heat Shrink Tubing

MIL-DTL-23053/5 covers flexible, crosslinked polyolefin heat-shrinkable insulation sleeving; the part number is built as class digit, size identifier and colour code. M23053/5-105-4 is a Class 1 part — the flame-resistant class, furnished in colours — in size identifier 05 and colour code 4, yellow. Size 05 is the 3/16 in size, with a minimum as-supplied inside diameter of .187 in (4.75 mm) recovering to a maximum .093 in (2.36 mm). It carries a lighter recovered wall than the larger sizes at .020 ± .003 in, which is the wall used across the 3/32 in to 3/16 in sizes in this sheet. Continuous operating range is −55 °C to +135 °C, and the specification requires no cracking after low-temperature flexibility testing at −55 °C along with fluid resistance, corrosion and fungus-resistance criteria.

Typical applications

Recovering to .093 in, the 3/16 in size is a small-gauge sleeve: it is used over individual conductors, pin and socket contacts, small crimps and component leads where a quarter-inch sleeve would recover loose. The thinner .020 in wall keeps the finished diameter down, which matters inside connector back-shells and tightly packed bundles. In yellow, it is typically applied as an identification or warning sleeve on individual wires during harness build, with Class 1 flame resistance making it suitable for enclosed avionics and equipment bays.
