Description
PX0686 IEC C14 Male Straight Cable-Mount Connector — BOLTON SKU 54901.
About the PX0686 IEC C14 Male Straight Cable-Mount
PX0686 is a straight, cable-mounting male connector to the IEC 60320 C14 interface. The C14 is the three-pole inlet half of the most widely used detachable mains cordage system in electronics and instrumentation: it carries line, neutral and protective earth, and mates with the C13 connector found on the end of the great majority of equipment power cords. Unlike a panel-mounted inlet, the PX0686 IEC C14 connector is terminated onto flexible cable, so it is used to build or repair a cordset rather than to fit into a chassis cut-out. The straight body form takes the cable away in line with the mating axis, which is the arrangement wanted where the cord runs directly off the equipment face with no clearance constraint behind it. C14 is a standardised interface, so mating and pin arrangement are fixed by IEC 60320; cable range, terminal type and any locking or IP features are product-specific and should be confirmed from the manufacturer datasheet at quotation.

Typical applications
A cable-mount C14 is used to make up bespoke mains cordsets — for example an assembly that takes power from a distribution unit or transformer and presents a standard C14 inlet to the equipment cord. It is used in rack and cabinet build-up, test-bench wiring, and field repair of damaged cordsets where a moulded lead cannot be replaced like for like. Because the C13/C14 pairing is near-universal on instrumentation and IT hardware, the straight cable-mount version is a common workshop stock item for reworking leads to non-standard lengths.
