About the 8D513K26SN Circular Mil-Spec Plug, Stain Circular Co
8D513K26SN is a circular military-specification connector in plug form, built with a stainless steel shell and fitted with socket (female) contacts, in polarisation position N. The 8D513K26SN Mil-Spec Plug circular connector is the free or cable-side half of a mating pair and is designed to engage a corresponding receptacle carrying pin contacts. Two elements of the designation matter operationally. First, the shell material: stainless steel is specified where corrosion resistance is the governing requirement, for example in marine, coastal or externally exposed installations, and it is heavier and harder-wearing than the aluminium shells used on the same connector families. Second, the polarisation: keying position N is one of several alternative keyway rotations available on a given shell and insert combination, and its purpose is to make it mechanically impossible to mate a plug with the wrong receptacle where several identical connectors sit close together on the same equipment. Contact size, insert arrangement, contact plating and shell size must be confirmed against the manufacturer part drawing before ordering.

Typical applications
Stainless-shell circular plugs of this type terminate cable assemblies on equipment that must survive salt, humidity and washdown — deck-mounted, vehicle-external and coastal ground installations among them. Socket contacts on the free plug are commonly specified on the de-energised side of an interface so that exposed live pins are avoided when the pair is separated. Alternative polarisation keying such as position N is used on panels carrying several connectors of identical size, preventing cross-mating during assembly and during field replacement.
