M27500 is the military specification covering shielded and jacketed cables built up from qualified basic airframe wires. In this construction the -22TG1T14 code describes a single 22 AWG conductor, over which a tinned copper braid shield and an extruded jacket are applied. Distributor data for this part gives a conductor of 19 strands of 34 AWG tin-plated copper, extruded ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) primary insulation to SAE AS22759/18, a tin-plated copper braid shield with 85% coverage, and an extruded ETFE outer jacket. The cable is rated 600 V and 150 °C maximum. ETFE is chosen for airframe wiring because it combines a thin, light wall with mechanical toughness, abrasion resistance and chemical resistance, and the braided shield provides the electromagnetic screening required where a signal path runs alongside power or switching circuits.
