About the M85049/38S11W Circular Connector
M85049/38S11W is a connector accessory manufactured to the M85049/38 sheet of MIL-DTL-85049, the military specification governing electrical connector accessories. The /38 sheet defines a straight cable-clamp strain relief for MIL-DTL-38999 Series III and Series IV connectors: it threads onto the rear accessory interface of the connector and clamps the emerging wire bundle so that flexing and pulling loads are taken by the clamp rather than by the crimped contacts. This part is shell size 11, suiting D38999/20, /24 and /26 connectors of the same size, and the W finish code denotes olive drab cadmium over electroless nickel on an aluminium body.
