The Mitutoyo 500-153-30 is a digital vernier caliper with a 0-300 mm measuring range, twice the span of the common 150 mm workshop caliper. The longer beam reaches dimensions — flange widths, plate lengths, large bore diameters, bolt-circle spans — that would otherwise need a rule or a large-frame instrument, while keeping the four caliper measurement modes of external jaws, internal jaws, depth rod and step face. Working at 300 mm places more weight on technique than a short caliper does: a longer beam is more susceptible to jaw deflection and to error if the part is not held square to the jaws, so light and consistent gauging pressure matters. The reading is shown digitally and can be zeroed at any position for comparative measurement.
