About the B-044-24-N Solder Sleeve Shield Termination
The B-044-24-N is a SolderSleeve-type shield termination device from TE Connectivity’s Raychem range. It combines a heat-shrinkable, transparent blue PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) sleeve with a pre-fluxed solder preform and two pre-installed 24 AWG stranded lead wires in a single one-piece part. Distributor listings for this part number give an inside diameter of 3.4 mm. Positioned over the exposed screen of a small coaxial or screened wire and heated, the sleeve recovers while the preform melts, soldering the leads to the shield and insulating and strain-relieving the joint in one controlled operation. The transparent sleeve leaves the finished joint inspectable, and the one-piece format gives a repeatable termination without hand-soldering variability, which is why the family is standard practice in screened aerospace and defence harnesses. Published overall length figures differ between distributors, so confirm the dimension required at quotation.
