About the HellermannTyton 800-00004 SM1 Panel Edgi Cable Manag
The SM1 profile is a flexible grommet strip that is pushed onto a cut panel edge so that cables crossing the opening bear on soft PVC instead of bare sheet metal. It is moulded in black soft PVC rated UL 94 HB, and is specified for continuous service from -65 °C to +105 °C with intermittent excursions to +135 °C. The profile grips panel material between 1.0 mm and 2.0 mm thick and needs no adhesive, rivets or special tooling — it is cut to length and pressed home by hand. Its cross-section measures 5.0 mm overall width (W) with a 1.0 mm secondary width (W2), and 6.3 mm overall height (H) with a 4.9 mm secondary height (H2). Besides its protective function it also gives cut apertures and panel borders a finished appearance.

Typical applications
The 1.0 to 2.0 mm panel grip suits the sheet gauges used in enclosures, equipment racks, control cabinets, vehicle bulkheads and shelter panels, where wiring must cross a punched or laser-cut aperture. Because it is applied by hand and cut to length on the bench, it is well suited to retrofit and rework — protecting an opening that was created or enlarged after the enclosure was built. The low-temperature capability also makes it usable in unheated and outdoor-sited equipment.
