About the W2S DT Series Wedgelock 2-Way Orange
The W2S DT Series technical component is the two-way wedgelock used with DEUTSCH DT series two-position plug housings, moulded in glass-filled PBT and supplied in orange. A wedgelock is not packaging or an accessory: TE describes it as a required component for every DEUTSCH DT housing. It is assembled at the mating interface and pressed into place after the contacts have been inserted, and in doing so it holds each contact at the correct alignment and provides secondary retention behind the primary locking fingers of the cavity. If a contact has not been pushed fully home the wedgelock will not seat, so it doubles as a simple go/no-go check on the assembly. The orange colour makes the presence of the wedgelock obvious against the grey DT housing during inspection.

Typical applications
Wedgelocks are consumed as fast as the housings they serve, because one is required per assembled connector and because they are frequently damaged or lost during field rework.
