About the RG58 RF Cable Assembly
Item 13006623 is a pre-terminated RF coaxial cable assembly, 6 metres long, built on RG58 coaxial cable and fitted with a reverse-polarity SMA (RP-SMA) male connector at one end and an RP-SMA female connector at the other. RG58 is a long-established flexible coaxial cable family with a nominal 50-ohm characteristic impedance, the standard impedance for radio-communication and antenna systems. RP-SMA connectors use the SMA thread interface with the genders of the centre contact reversed, and are the common antenna interface on Wi-Fi access points, radio modules and telemetry equipment. A male-to-female configuration of this type functions as an extension: it lets an antenna be remoted from its radio by 6 metres — for example moving an antenna outside an enclosure or to a mast — while preserving the original connector interfaces at both ends.
