Weller T0051301099 Desoldering Wick, 1.5 mm x 1.6 m — BOLTON SKU 70705.
About the T0051301099 Weller Desoldering Wick 1.5mm x 1.6m
The T0051301099 desoldering wick is a fine copper mesh braid impregnated with flux, supplied 1.5 mm wide on a 1.6 m roll. In use the braid is laid over the solder to be removed and heated through with a soldering tip; the flux cleans the surface and capillary action in the fine mesh draws the molten solder up into the braid, which is then trimmed back and discarded. The copper construction gives good thermal transfer, so the joint reaches wetting temperature quickly and the removal is completed without prolonged heating of the pad or component. The 1.5 mm width is one of the narrower sizes in the Weller range and is intended for fine-pitch and small-pad work rather than for bulk solder removal. This part is manufactured by Weller in Germany and is classified under HS code 7413.00.

Typical applications
The 1.5 mm width suits clearing solder from individual pads, small through-holes and fine-pitch surface-mount leads without bridging onto adjacent features. It is used for component removal and rework on populated boards, for cleaning solder residue off tracks and lands before re-soldering, and for dressing down excess solder on joints that must be re-made. The 1.6 m roll length is a practical bench quantity for repair and low-volume rework stations.
