Description
Stannol Solder Wire HS10 2,5% 0,5 Sn60Pb40 250g (518638) — BOLTON SKU 67920.
About the 518638 Stannol HS10 Solder Wire, Sn60Pb40
The 518638 HS10 solder wire is Stannol article 518638, a flux-cored wire built on the S-Sn60Pb40 tin-lead alloy in 0.5 mm diameter and supplied on a 250 g reel. HS10 is Stannol’s halide-activated rosin, or colophony, flux, and the standard flux content is 2.5 percent by weight, which is the figure carried on this article. The halide activation gives a more aggressive cleaning action than a plain rosin, which is why HS10 is chosen for surfaces that are oxidised or otherwise difficult to wet. Because the alloy contains lead, it sits outside RoHS-compliant assembly and is used where a leaded process is specified or permitted, which in practice includes several defence, aerospace and legacy-equipment repair regimes. Country of origin declared on supply is Germany.

Typical applications
A 0.5 mm leaded wire with an activated rosin flux is used for hand soldering and repair where a leaded process is authorised: maintenance of legacy electronic assemblies, wire and connector work on older platforms, and rework of joints originally made with tin-lead. The fine diameter suits small joints and controlled solder volume rather than bulk tinning.
