Listed as pure nickel strip 99 6 percent, this is a nickel tab strip of 99.6% nickel content cut to 0.1 mm thickness by 5 mm width by 100 mm length and supplied 100 pieces to a box. Pure nickel is specified for cell interconnection in preference to nickel-plated steel because its bulk resistivity is lower and consistent through the section, so the joint resistance and resulting heat rise under load are governed by the weld itself rather than by a plated surface layer that can be breached during welding. The 0.1 mm thickness is the common gauge for spot-welded tabs on cylindrical cells: thick enough to carry meaningful current across the weld, thin enough for a two-pulse welder to fuse cleanly without excessive energy into the cell can. The 5 mm width matches the flat area available on the positive and negative faces of an 18650 cell, and the 100 mm cut length allows several inter-cell links to be trimmed from a single strip.
